London City to Berlin route restarts.
30th Dec 2007
Lufthansa has restarted its route to Berlin from London City Airport, despite axing it in 2004 due to poor loads. The airline says it is confident it will reach a 70% load factor on its London City-Berlin route by April. Lufthansa plans to eventually return to its thrice-daily rotations to Berlin, but at the moment flies just twice a day.
Space has become something of a hot potato at London City and with the Docklands site now slot-constrained, it appears that Lufthansa has benefited from the withdrawal of another carrier to free up capacity.
