Singapore Airlines is now offering passengers computer office applications on the seatback TVs. It works by reading files off a USB stick. It includes a basic version of Word, a PDF Reader and Media Player. Photo Viewer is also available if you have a digital camera (although you will need a USB to camera cable). The LCD screen is 23" at 1280 x 768 pixel high-resolution.
The enhanced entertainment service is offered across all three classes on the carrier's Airbus A380 routes - from Singapore to London and Sydney - and on its 12 Boeing 777-300ER routes - Frankfurt, Zurich, Milan, Barcelona, Sydney, Seoul, Melbourne Moscow, Houston, San Francisco, Paris and Hong Kong.
Other enhancements planned for the coming months include an interactive ZagatSurvey Restaurant and Hotel Guide allowing passengers to undertake some early research on where to eat ahead of arrival.
The screens also allow the usual AVOD (Audio Video on demand) with entertainment including more than 100 films, 180 TV programmes and 700 CDs worth of music and audio books.
