Air France goes longhaul from Heathrow.

17th May 2008

Air France has finally started it's longhaul operation from London's Heathrow Airport - with just one route, to Los Angeles. As part of the Open Skies de-regulation of the airport, it is permitted to offer a direct flight, as opposed to taking passengers via it's Paris hub, however passengers still have to endure it's dreary facilities in Terminal 2. Air France has also put it's code on Delta Airlines flights to New York and Atlanta (which depart from T4), and on Delta flights from Gatwick, which fly to Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New York.

Meanwhile Air France's offshoot CityJet is ramping up its network from London City Airport with new services to Holland taking it's daily direct departures to 40.

Owned by Air France, which also purchased London City stalwart VLM just before Christmas, CityJet has enhanced its twice-daily Eindhoven flights to allow day-return trips from the Docklands airport. To achieve this, Air France has had to juggle its timetable, reducing the previous thrice-weekday Belfast service to a double-daily frequency.

Air France recently announced the addition of a fourth daily rotation from London City to both Geneva and Zurich, a second daily flight to Paris Charles de Gaulle and what it says is an improved schedule to Edinburgh.
