In-flight showers for Emirates A380
8th August 2008
Emirates Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A380 aircraft. The new cabin features 489 seats (14 first class suites, 76 business and 399 economy), and two spa showers at the front of the aircraft.
There are two showers onboard, upstairs at the front of the aircraft for the exclusive use of first class passengers. An extra tonne of water will be enough to feed the use of the showers. The "Shower Spas" include the use of "Timeless Shower kits" which come in two versions - Revive and Relax. The first commercial flight takes place in August.
Between the end of July and March 2009, Emirates will take delivery of five A380s which, after New York, will begin to appear on routes linking Dubai with London Heathrow, Sydney and Auckland. All told, Emirates has purchased 58 A380s, which is by far the largest order by any airline.
Emirates has also bought 60 Airbus wide-body aircraft, 30 A350 XWB (extra wide body) and 30 A330-300 aircraft. In 2007 Emirates signed a firm order for 70 A350 XWBs with an option for 50 more, and today's order includes the firming up of 30 of these A350 XWB options and will eventually increase the order to 100 for this aircraft.
